Tim McIntyre completed his Bachelor of Psychological Science at Griffith University before undertaking postgraduate studies at Bond University, where he obtained a Master’s in Psychology (Clinical). His thesis, which explored body image and disordered eating in adult males, was published in an international journal.
Tim has worked extensively with adolescents and young adults across a range of public and private mental health settings. His experience includes roles within the Children’s Hospital, Gold Coast Health, Lives Lived Well, and headspace, where he has provided support to both clinical and forensic populations.
He has a strong interest in supporting young people and adults experiencing a variety of mental health concerns, including personality disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety and depressive disorders, psychosis, and ADHD. Tim is trained in multiple evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT).
Committed to ongoing professional growth, Tim integrates evidence-based practices into his psychotherapy and is currently undertaking training in Schema Therapy with the aim of gaining registration with the International Society of Schema Therapy (ISST).
